Overview

We are hiring a Principal Engineer, Data Engineering to lead strategy and architecture for our data platform. In this key leadership role, you’ll report directly to the Director of Data and help shape the technical roadmap and data infrastructure that drives Homebase forward.

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior leadership to develop a multi-year data platform strategy.
• Architect scalable data systems for ingestion, transformation, and modeling.
• Enhance self-service analytics with reliable, structured datasets.
• Optimize workflows to improve performance and data freshness.
• Establish and enforce data governance, quality, and security best practices.
• Mentor data engineers and promote knowledge sharing and learning.
• Evaluate and implement modern data tools and practices.
• Bridge technical and non-technical teams through effective communication.
• Collaborate across Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, Security, and more.

Who You Are

• 10+ years in software development, 7+ in data engineering/analytics.
• Proven track record designing scalable data platforms and enabling analytics.
• Expertise in data governance, modeling, and architectural strategy.
• Strategic problem solver with high attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficient in Python, SQL, Redshift, Spark, Databricks, DBT, Git.
• Experienced in driving software quality, platform reliability, and excellence.
