Overview

goPeer is a financial wellness company and Canada’s first regulated consumer peer-to-peer lender, connecting borrowers and investors through an online marketplace. We aim to provide better rates to borrowers and create new investment opportunities for all Canadians. With significant traction since our recent launch, we are on track to become one of the fastest-growing FinTech start-ups in Canada. We are currently seeking a Senior Database Developer with a focus on PL/pgSQL programming, database architecture, data modeling, and query optimization.

Responsibilities

• Develop functions, stored procedures, and triggers using PL/pgSQL.
• Design future-proof database architecture, data modeling, and schema design.
• Perform performance optimization, query analysis, and tuning.
• Collaborate closely with the full stack and back end development team.
• Provide recommendations for process and system optimization.
• Advocate for best practices in development and test-driven methodologies.
• Ensure compliance, security, and privacy are prioritized in all decisions.
• Maintain technical documentation and assist in preparing end-user documentation.
• Focus on project timelines and deliverables while addressing obstacles.
• Work with stakeholders and customers to resolve deficiencies and gather feedback.
• Foster a positive team environment.

Skills and Qualifications

• University degree or College diploma in Computer Science, or comparable experience.
• 4+ years of relevant database development experience, preferably with PostgreSQL (bonus for related industry experience).
• Strong curiosity and desire to learn, innovate, and build futureproof systems.
• Collaborative team player, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and balance objectives.
• Good knowledge of agile methodologies and the application development lifecycle.

Preferred Technologies

• Proficient in current development standards and methodologies.
• Strong skills in PL/pgSQL.
• Knowledge of Web Services/JSON/XML/REST/API/Serverless.
• Experience with Business Intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau).
• Familiarity with code management and version-control systems, preferably Git.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, preferably Amazon AWS and RDS.
• Proficient in project planning and collaboration tools, including the Atlassian stack.
