Overview

We are seeking a Technical Lead for our Discovery Engineering team, focusing on improving product discovery for practitioners and patients. In this role, you will drive impactful technical decisions, influence the architecture of catalog discovery features, and work closely with your team to enhance how health practitioners and patients find the products they need. This team collaborates closely with our Design System, Search Algorithm, and Catalog teams. This is a remote position based in Ottawa, ON, with opportunities to connect in person as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead our Discovery Engineering team, comprising frontend and full-stack engineers.
• Manage and grow your team of developers through direct supervision.
• Plan and architect projects, leading design discussions and decisions.
• Develop and maintain a quarterly roadmap that balances technical initiatives and product features.
• Ensure company goals are met while maintaining our application's technical health and security.
• Collaborate with product, design, and other technical leaders across various departments.
• Contribute to the codebase and work alongside engineers to complete projects.

Who You Are

• Ability to iterate, move fast, and measure while maintaining quality.
• Keen eye for detail and passion for building exceptional user experiences.
• Commitment to helping your team grow and fostering an environment of high psychological safety.
• Experience leading a full-stack software development team.
• Passionate about promoting strong engineering practices and processes.
• Experience working on high-scale web applications.
• 5+ years of experience in software development with a modern full-tech stack, including Ruby, Rails, React, JavaScript, GraphQL, and Apollo.
• Experience with e-commerce at scale, operations, and distribution, particularly around search and discovery.
• Nice to have: Experience working with search engines such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or Solr.
