Overview

We are hiring a Lead Software Engineer to join our Company OS team. In this role, you will design and develop backend systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and build solutions that empower small businesses. You’ll tackle technical challenges, drive innovation, and contribute to creating a platform that supports the full lifecycle of a company.

Responsibilities

• Design and build systems that enable customer-facing features and services for small business management.
• Improve the scalability and reliability of our systems while driving enhancements for performance and user experience.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver impactful features aligned with our product vision.
• Lead engineering projects, from conceptualization to implementation, ensuring high-quality solutions.
• Mentor and collaborate with team members to foster a culture of technical excellence.
• Identify platform opportunities and align technical roadmaps with business goals.

Who You Are

• 12+ years of experience in software development with a strong track record of leading large-scale projects.
• Expertise in systems design, API development, and data modeling.
• Proficiency in backend development, particularly with Ruby on Rails and ActiveRecord.
• Experience with distributed systems and platform engineering.
• Collaborative and communicative, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Passionate about building tools and services that empower small businesses.

Bonus Points:

• Experience in consumer or enterprise product development.
• Strong understanding of test-driven development and DevOps best practices.
• Background in developing complex systems with a focus on maintainability and scalability.

Office Policy

• Hybrid work: 2 days in-office per week for employees in San Francisco, New York, and Denver.
